Yes, they can! Tae Kwon Do is a great way to improve your child's health and overall condition, no matter what your starting point is. Our individualized curriculum allows students to progress at their own pace, making our programs ideal for children of all fitness and skill levels.
We have children as young as 4 years old starting in our Summer Camp Program, as long as they're fully potty trained. Since all children develop at different speeds, it just depends on when your child is ready to get started.
MC Martial Arts offers rolling admissions, which means that you can sign up whenever you are ready.
We want to encourage a family atmosphere here at MC Martial Arts, so we offer a sibling discount.
Our classes are very structured, but we're not a boot camp. Classes are designed to be enjoyable and engaging, with just the right mix of discipline and fun. Our students look forward to coming back to class.
Our daily activity schedule is posted for each day of camp so you can sign your child up for the best days or weeks for them. The frequency is entirely up to you, but we do offer discounts to those signing up for full weeks of camp or those signing up siblings.
No. Our schedule is designed to fit your busy lives. You can attend whichever days each week that best fit your own schedule or your camper's interests.
We prefer to keep a 1:10 ratio.
Our Summer Camp offers a 50-minute daily Taekwondo lesson with an additional ten-minute Korean Language Class. Our classes are smaller and more personally tailored to your child's individual needs than typical Martial Arts Studios. Your child will also leave camp a whole belt level higher than when they began, which is already included in your camp fees.
We always do our best to respect your child's current ranking, but every martial arts curriculum is a little bit different. With that in mind, we will evaluate your child to see what their current skill level is, then place them at the belt we feel most closely matches their skill.
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean Martial Art that focuses on speed, technique, and fluidity. Since Tae Kwon Do has a stronger emphasis on kicking compared to other martial arts, it is ideal for improving strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance.
Absolutely not! Tae Kwon Do, like other martial arts, is about finding balance and harmony. This translates into learning respect and discipline alongside the physical skills. Studying Tae Kwon Do actually makes people, especially children, calmer and more respectful. We continually educate our students to make sure that they understand that Tae Kwon Do is a tool for self-improvement and defense, not a tool to harm others or cause disrespect.
Tae Kwon Do is a physical activity, and like any physical activity, there is risk for injury. A huge focus is placed on safety at MC Martial Arts; however, emphasis is put on a good warm-up and stretching. All training is well-supervised by our master and instructors to make sure that nothing unsafe is going on. We pride ourselves on the fact that injuries during class are few and far between.
Full contact sparring is not required, but the opportunity to spar in a safe, controlled environment is available for students who are interested. Sparring will not be offered during our Summer Camp program since there can be major age discrepancies.
If your camper needs help applying sunscreen then they must bring a spray sunscreen (for body) or a sunscreen stick (for face). Our staff is not permitted to apply lotion sunblock to the campers. We strongly enforce a hands-to-yourself policy not only with our campers but with our staff as well.
No, we do not offer lunch. If your camper forgets their lunch you will be called and asked to drop one off. We have lunch at 12:00 pm and snack at around 2:00 pm. We can offer vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, and kosher snack options. If your child has other dietary restrictions then you may either pack a snack of your own choosing in their lunchbox and give it to one of our staff and we will provide it to them during snack time.
As long as your child can play outside for most of the day, keep their hands to themselves, and follow directions we accept them! If your child physically struggles with being outside for prolonged periods of time or has extreme behavioral issues then this camp will not be a good fit. MC Martial Arts reserves the right to ask a camper to not return due to behavioral issues.
Depending on the staff it can be, we try our best to keep a 1 staff to 10 campers ratio.
